Antonianum Residence

At the center of a triangle that ideally connects 3 of the city’s most important historical points, nestled therefore between the Botanical Garden, the Prato della Valle and the Basilica of St. Anthony, is an architectural masterpiece, the former college, now the Antonianum Residence.

The fulcrum of city student life for decades, it helped give birth to generations of leaders and professionals from Veneto and beyond; conceived and founded by the Jesuits to provide housing for Catholic university students in the early 1900s, it soon became a prestigious landmark for all Paduan students.

The complex, designed in the early 1900s, stands on an older structure built by arch. Giuseppe Jappelli and owned by Ca’ Farsetti.

The foundation stone was laid on September 5, 1905; it consists of a monumental body in Art Nouveau style and 3 side bodies; currently restored and adapted to a luxury residential complex, it has kept the sumptuous central body unchanged and the 3 side bodies have been reconstructed in contemporary style.

The entire structure is developed on about 11500 square meters with a 3000-square-meter garden, also an expression of Art Nouveau and designed by arch. Peressutti, careful not only to comply with the rule of the new artistic language-unity-environment-building-but also of the recovery of the past nineteenth-century Romantic tradition.

Abz Italia had the honor of furnishing the most opulent part, the penthouse of the central tower.

We have been involved for almost a year in the design, fabrication and installation of the interior furniture and the exterior part of the terrace, as shown in the Gallery.
